RNA Vaccine
, in Aged Mice. PLoS ONE 10(2): e0118067. doi:10.1371/journal.pone.0118067 Abstract Influenza A virus (IAV) infection is a serious global threat to public health, including the elderly. Recently, there have been drastic changes in the hemagglutinins (HAs) of IAVs, which has made traditional vaccine development strategies ineffective. To circumvent this problem, we have developed a universal vaccine based on the H5 and H7 subtypes of IAV that is expected to confer crossprotection against various IAV subtypes. However, this approach has not been investigated in aged mice. In this study, we evaluated the ability of a universal vaccine based on the H5 and H7 subtypes of IAV to induce crossprotection against IAV in aged mice. We also analyzed antibody response, cellular response and cytokine response. Our results showed that H5N1 and H7N9 induced a potent antibody response in aged mice. The universal vaccine against H5N1 and H7N9 induced a potent antibody response in aged mice. The universal vaccine against H5N1 and H7N9 induced a high level of protection against IAV in aged mice. H5N1 and H7N9 vaccines induced a higher antibody response than pandemic H1N1 vaccine in aged mice. Our results suggest that this vaccine may be effective against various IAV subtypes in the elderly. What is the messenger RNA vaccine?
The messenger RNA vaccine is a vaccine that uses pieces of genetic code from the virus to help the body build immunity to the virus.
How does the messenger RNA vaccine work?
The messenger RNA vaccine works by injecting a person with a piece of genetic code from the virus. This code instructs the person's cells to make a protein that is found on the surface of the virus. The person's immune system then produces antibodies to this protein, which provide protection against the virus.
What are the benefits of the messenger RNA vaccine?
There are many benefits to the messenger RNA vaccine. Some of these benefits include the fact that it is a very effective vaccine, it is easy to administer, and it has a very low rate of side effects.
What are the risks of the messenger RNA vaccine?
There are no known risks of the messenger RNA vaccine.
